A good project is a good starting point. Folio Writer Cloud has a browsable gallery of shared projects — thesis skeletons, journal article layouts, grant-proposal structures, lab notebooks — that anyone can open, download, or clone into their own account and start writing in. Contributors submit their own; nothing goes public without review.
The gallery lives on the Cloud welcome page as Community templates. Filter by category — Thesis / Dissertation, Journal article, Grant proposal, Lab notebook / Protocol, Book / Monograph, Course / Teaching, Report / Whitepaper, or Notes — or search across titles, tags, and descriptions. Each card shows what the template is for and what you can do with it.
Every template offers up to three actions, and a contributor chooses which to allow when they submit:
.folio
package to open in the Mac or iOS app.A public project opens at its plain address — no link with a secret key, because there's nothing private to protect. Cloning needs a free account (so the copy has somewhere to live) and counts against your project quota like any other project.
Turned a project into something others could start from? In the Share dialog, choose Submit to community gallery… Pick a category, add tags and a short description, and set what visitors may do — view online, download, clone, and whether the shared copy is editable. Then submit for review.
Submissions land in a moderation queue. An administrator reviews each one — adjusting the category or tags if needed — then approves or declines it. Approved templates are permanent (they don't expire like an ad-hoc public share), and an admin can unpublish one at any time, which removes the public copy without touching the contributor's own project. End-to-end encrypted projects can't become templates: the published copy would be unreadable, so publish an unencrypted copy instead.
Browsing, downloading, and cloning community templates is open to everyone with a free Folio Writer Cloud account. Submitting a project for the gallery follows the same account rules as sharing a project on the web.
